Population, Disease and Ecology: a Comparative Historical Look at China

On behalf of Professor Hsiung Ping-chen (the director of Research Institute for the Humanities and Professor of History at CUHK), presently Visiting Professor of History here at UCLA, we are excited to invite everyone to come to our talk given by Professor Cao Shuji. Professor Cao is the Professor in the Department of History of Shanghai JiaoTong University, and an expert on the migrant and population history of China, environmental history and the history of diseases and social economy.

On Wednesday, December 4, we are having a talk from 14:00 to 16:00 at 10383 Bunche Hall. A light reception at 16:00 will follow immediately. After the courtesy remarks and introduction given by Professor Hsiung, Professor Cao will be giving a talk on “Population, Disease, and Ecology: A Comparative Historical Look at China” (「人口、疾病到生態:比較視野下的中國史例證」). The talk is given in Chinese with English summary. This is a great chance to meet renowned professors and share scholarly thoughts.
