Oil Concession Law, Decolonization, and the Historiography of the Middle East

A lecture by Chris Dietrich (Fordham University)

This talk analtzes the local and international origins of debates about the multinational oil concessions by the member nations of OPEC in the 1960s.

Chris Dietrich is a historian at Fordham University.  His first book, Oil Revolution: Anticolonial Elites, Sovereign Rights, and the Economic Culture of Decolonization was published by Cambridge University Press in 2017.  A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Grinnell College, he has published articles in Diplomatic History, The International History Review, Itinerario, and elsewhere.
