"Why International Education Matters Now" by Professor Jared Diamond

Pulitzer-prize winning author Jared Diamond speaks on study abroad and international education at IEW 2016.

UCLA was proud to join the U.S. Departments of State and Education along with other universities across the nation to celebrate International Education Week 2016 (November 14-18) in recognition of international education and exchange worldwide.

To conclude a week of festivities at UCLA, Chancellor Gene Block and Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement Cindy Fan hosted a "UCLA Global Conversation: Celebrating International Education Week 2016" in the Powell Library Rotunda on campus. The event featured a keynote on "Why International Education Matters Now" by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and UCLA Professor of Geography, Jared Diamond. Attendees included students, alumni, consuls general, friends, campus leadership, faculty and staff.
