Cherry Blossom Centennial Concert: A Touch of TokyoThe Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Grand park, and the Japan Foundation of Los Angeles presents the centennial celebration of the gift of trees. Friday, November 02, 2012 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Grand Park Between Hill Street and Spring Street Los Angeles, CA 90012
The planting of 24 cherry trees at the Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles will honor the 2012 Japan-U.S. Cherry Blossom Centennial. In commemoration, these two organizations, the Grand Park, and the Japan Foundation will proudly host a rededication ceremony and a 20 kimono-clad member R&B performance choreographed with a samurai sword fight.
Rededication Ceremony (Open to the public)
Time: 4pm-4:30pm
Location: Grand Park Block 3
A rededication ceremony will be held at the cherry tree grove in the Grand Park, Block 3. The plaque highlighting the symbol of friendship between Japan and the United States will be revealed. The ceremony includes the remarks by the County and City officials, policymakers, as well as the Consul General of Japan.

Location: Grand Park Block 4 Event Lawn
A fusion R&B Gospel group “HEAVENESE” from Tokyo will perform on stage. Actor/comedian Rome Kanda, known for his 2008 comedy reality show, “MAJIDE!? I Survived a Japanese Game Show” will be the MC.
Next to the stage at the Market Place, Japanese-fusion style food trucks will be offering sushi –rolls and other favorites. To those interested in Japan, informational booths will provide official tourism information and Japanese language learning opportunities.
