Toulouse Antonin Roy

Toulouse Antonin Roy completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Montreal, Quebec, where he was born and raised. In the fall of 2009, Toulouse completed his BA in History from Concordia University, and then in 2012, his MA in History at McGill University. Thereafter, he decided to pursue another MA in the Department of East Asian Studies at McGill for additional research and language work. Toulouse's research interests revolve mainly around colonial Japanese history, with a focus on the relations between imperial administrators and indigenous groups in Taiwan and Northeastern China (Manchuria) throughout the first half of the twentieth century. His Masters thesis in East Asian Studies at McGill, for example, looked at the role of anthropological knowledge production in the functioning of colonial police agencies across the aborigines areas of Japanese-occupied Taiwan.
