Today the Korean Baptist Church (KBC), affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), is the largest Korean American Protestant denomination with more than 700 congregations. The next two largest ones are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in USA and the United Methodist Church. To trace the KBC development and its affiliation with the SBC, the lecture deals with three topics: 1) The beginning of the SBC and the lingering problem of racial discrimination, 2) Four phases of the KBC growth, and 3) Qualitative interviews from KBC pastors, professors, missionaries, and lay members.
