
2007 Korean Studies Workshop
A Nine Day Program in Seoul, Korea, July 25-August 3, 2007
The Graduate School of International Studies at Korea University and UCLA Center for Korean Studies are pleased to announce the summer 2007 Korean Studies Workshop, an intensive nine-day introduction to Korea for American undergraduate college students. This year¡¯s workshop will feature lectures by prominent Korean and American scholars and field trips to various historical and cultural sites in and around Seoul. Knowledge of the Korean language is not required. The workshop is financially supported by a grant from the Freeman Foundation.
The dates for this program are set for July 25-August 3, 2007, and it will be carried out at Korea University in Seoul, Korea. Expenses of the selected participants will be covered by a grant from the Freeman Foundation, including accommodations, meals, and roundtrip economy class air fair up to $1,200, and health insurance. Participants will be required to pay a $300 fee.
Accepted students are encouraged to arrive one or two days prior to the beginning of the workshop, and stay additional one or two days after the workshop. All costs incurred by early arrival or late departure up to two days will be covered by Korea University.
The program will be led by Professor John Duncan, Director of the UCLA Center for Korean Studies, and Professor Moonsung Kang of the International Studies at Korea University.
Undergraduate students who wish to apply must submit:
- an application form located below
- a one-page statement of purpose
- one letter of recommendation (L.O.R.) from a professor familiar with the applicant¡¯s academic work
- a current transcript from the applicant¡¯s college or university
