Prof. Felipe Raúl Michelini Delle Piane is a member of the Uruguayan Parliament, specializing in human rights and international law. He graduated from Law School of Universidad de la República (UDELAR), Uruguay, and from Columbia Law School, New York. He co-authored Introducción al Derecho Internacional de Protección de los Derechos Humanos (‘An Introduction to International Law on the Protection of Human Rights’).
Professor in human rights at the Law School of Universidad de la República, Uruguay, Prof. Michelini is a member of the Executive Committee of Parliamentarians for Global Action and a former Under-Secretary of State for Education and Culture and the Uruguayan member of the Executive Board of UNESCO. He was adviser to the Secretariat of the United Nations for the Commission on the Truth for El Salvador and the Director of the Centre for Justice and International Law for South America. Prof. Michelini is also a co-founding member of the Observatory for Public Policies on Human Rights in the MERCOSUR countries and participant in the Activists’ Program of the Columbia University Center for the Study of Human Rights.
