We are living at an urgent time when the dignity and human rights of immigrants and workers are under unprecedented assault by conservative forces throughout the United States.  In response, we are witnessing some of the largest mass mobilizations ever seen in cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles.  This conference is an attempt to provide a critical space for discussing educational and cultural projects in Mexico and East Los Angeles in the larger spirit of developing solidarity across borders in the ongoing struggle for social justice.
