The UCLA Center for Argentina, Chile and the Southern Cone, is pleased to announce the first meeting of the Center’s Workshop. The goal of this initiative is to provide an interdisciplinary space at the UCLA campus where scholars working on Argentina, Chile or the Southern Cone, can present their work and interact with each other. The workshop will include presentations by faculty and doctoral students from UCLA and Southern California, and may also include speakers coming from out of town.
On April 7, Mir Yarfitz, PhD Candidate from the UCLA History Department, will present his paper “Caftens, Kurvehs, and Stille Chuppahs: Jewish Sex Workers and their Opponents in Buenos Aires, 1890-1930.”
