The UCLA Center for Mexican Studies is pleased to co-sponsor Son Jarocho Art and Jarana Exhibit presented by the collective Fandango Sin Fronteras. The exhibit brings together different artistic expressions built around son jarocho, the traditional music of southern Veracruz. The show features the work of prominent lauderos, makers of the jarana—the eight string guitar at the heart of son jarocho.

The Center for Mexican Studies invites the UCLA community to the opening reception of Son Jarocho Art and Jarana Exhibit with Gilberto Gutierrez, guest master laudero and director of Mono Blanco, the pioneering band in the revival of the son jarocho music tradition.
