 Dr. Lopez Murphy was Minister of Defense and briefly Minister of Economy for the Federal Government of Argentina. He is founding member and Senior Economist at the Latin American Economic Research Foundation. In 2002, he founded his political party “Recreate for Growth” and ran for the presidency in 2003. He is also an advisor to companies, international investors and financial institutions in Argentina and Latin America, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the CEPAL, and the IADB.
Lopez Murphy has a MA in Economics from the University of Chicago, and a BS in Economics from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. He was also Chief Economist at the FIEL economic think-tank in Argentina.
