Vivian, a beautiful but insecure Brazilian teenager, arrives in London under the wing of her favorite cousin JEAN CHARLES. She is nervous and unsure - she would have preferred to stay in her village back in Brazil, but her mother there desperately needs money and Vivian is intent on helping her out.
Vivian relies on Jean Charles for everything. He is fun-loving, outgoing, a free spirit. He’s been in London for three years and boasts about how easy it’s been for him to make money as an electrician. To him, London is a land of opportunity.
Then the city is turned upside down by a series of suicide attacks. It is summer 2005 - the police are everywhere and paranoia envelops the city. On July 21st, Jean is mistakenly identified as a terrorist and shot dead by the police. Vivian’s life is shattered but soon realizes how Jean Charles’ life and death have transformed her own.
