Second Heritage Language Summer Institute:
Developing a Research Base for the Heritage Field

Irina Sekerina (B.A. Linguistics, Moscow State University; Ph.D. in Psycholinguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center) is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the CUNY College of Staten Island. Her research focuses on the mechanisms that underlie rapid online language comprehension in both adults and children, and on two languages, English and Russian. Studies conducted in Dr. Sekerina's experimental psycholinguistic laboratory utilize the visual world eye-tracking technique to study spoken language processing in real time.
