Forced parent–child separation and parental loss are potentially traumatic events (PTEs) with adverse effects on children’s mental health.  This presentation focuses on U.S.-born Latino children’s mental health, including PTSD and psychological distress, following parental detention or deportation. Dr. Rojas-Flores discusses recommendations for clinical practice, research, and public policy on behalf of these vulnerable children.
