
While a member of the Swedish parliament in 2006, Berndt Ekholm worked on a committee report about relations between the West and the Muslim world, focusing on the European Union and its neighborhood.
On June 25, 2007, Berndt Ekholm, a former Swedish member of parliament and chairman of the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, Egypt, paid a visit to the UCLA International Institute to discuss a 2006 parliamentary report on relations between the West and the Muslim world. The work of the Swedish parliament's Foreign Affairs committee focused on the immediate vicinity of the European Union.
