As the top-ranked public university in the United States, UCLA attracts visiting scholars and graduate researchers from around the world who come to build relationship with our globally-recognized faculty, conduct research in the country's six-largest research library, and acquaint themselves with one of world's most iconic, exciting cities.
The Latin American Institute hosts visiting scholars and graduate researchers from the United States, Latin America, and beyond. Upon payment of applicable fees, we take care of the appointment process, sponsor international scholars for the J-1 visa, facilitate introductions to our nearly 200 affiliated faculty members, provide open workspace in the LAI offices, and offer informal support finding housing, navigating public transportation, and adjusting to life in Los Angeles.
