J. Yang Scholarship COVID-19 Emergency Grants

The UCLA Asia Pacific Center is offering emergency grants for current UCLA students from Taiwan experiencing hardship due to COVID-19. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis while funds are still available. Eligible applicants must have completed their high school or undergraduate education in Taiwan.

Emergency grants of up to $1,000 are available for undergraduate or graduate students from Taiwan who are experiencing hardship as a result of the stay-at-home directives and remote instruction due to COVID-19. Students may apply for emergency funds for educational expenses such as tuition and fees or technological equipment, rent and living expenses, travel, medical expenses, or other urgent needs.

Application materials include:

  • Type of support and amount of funding requested
  • Reference from UCLA faculty or departmental advisor confirming your eligibility and need
