German Kim is the Director of the International Center of Korean Studies at the Kazakh National University and currently Professor in the Department of History, Konguk University. He has written and edited a large number of books and journal articles published internationally, including the three volumes of the History of Korean Immigration on the history of the Korean diaspora. He has received research and field work grants from various research foundations, institutions and universities. He was visiting Professor at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Hokkaido University, Hanguk University for foreign Studies, Sungshin Women University, Hanyang University, and Konguk University. He was awarded numerous Kazakh and Korean Orders, including the Korean Compatriots award of KBS in 2014 in the field of Humanities and Social sciences.
