Damon L. Woods

Philippine historian taught a variety of Southeast Asian Studies classes in 2006-07.

Damon L. Woods  again had a busy year as a Visiting Professor at UCLA in 2005-06, teaching Southeast Asian Studies classes in several academic units.  In Fall 2006 he taught both the big History lecture class "Southeast Asian Crossroads," as well as "Introduction to Southeast Asian Studies" in the Southeast Asian Studies Interdepartmental Program.  In Spring 2006 he taught "Religion and Society in Southeast Asia" in the department of Asian Languages and Cultures and "Vietnam: Past and Present" in the Department of History.

Prof. Woods received his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian history from UCLA.  He has been a lecturer at UCLA, the University of California, Irvine, and California State University, Long Beach.  His research concerns the Philippines, most especially Tagalog documents from the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries.
