Dr. Sonam Kinga is Chairperson
of the National Council of the
Parliament of Bhutan, and a part
of the Teaching Faculty at the
Royal Institute for Governance
and Strategic Studies, Bhutan.
He holds an MA and a PhD in
Area Studies from Kyoto
University. Dr. Kinga’s most recent
book is Polity, Kingship and
Democracy: A Biography of the
Bhutanese State (2009). In
addition to his political and
academic work, Dr. Kinga played
a major role in the film, Travelers
and Magicians.
In 2013, he was awarded the
Orange Scarf by His Majesty the
King of Bhutan, on having been
elected as the Chairperson of the
National Council.
