Three will study in France on Dan Wise Memorial Scholarships. Duttenhaver Scholarships will send students to China and Spain.
The University of California Education Abroad Program included five UCLA students in its annual awards of two prestigious scholarships for foreign study announced April 7. The Duttenhaver Scholars program offers $10,000 for a year-long study in a northern hemisphere country. The Dan Wise Memorial Scholarship provides $5,000 for a year of study in France.
Seventeen students received the Duttenhaver awards for the 2005-06 academic year, two from each of the eight UC campuses except Santa Barbara, which received three at the donor's request. The UCLA awardees were Kevin Lew, who will spend the year in China, and Daniel Romero Cruz, who will study in Spain.
There were ten awards by the Dan Wise Memorial Scholarship to spend the coming year in France, three of which were to UCLA students. The UCLA honorees are Judith Campos and Brian Kuzma, who plan to go to Grenoble; and Shanon Chen, who will study in Lyon.
