The mass media is the 4th most powerful institution in today’s society, following the Presidential Administration, the Congress, and the Justice Department. Over the years, the media has increasingly become a powerful institutions that affect our daily lives. Although the media may merely be relaying the news and information from the government administration, it often faces public scrutiny as a conveyor of bad news. Or, due to the far-reaching effects of the media, there may be harmful consequences of reporting. Mr. Kim’s presentation will discuss the struggles of the media companies in trying to keep a careful balance between providing the means of public relations to the government administration and preventing harmful reporting practices. 

Lecture will be in Korean.
