In each period of western music history, innovations in the development of keyboard instruments enabled composers of the era to experiment with new techniques and sounds through their work. The innovation of keyboard instruments continues to this day. The digital piano, self-performing piano, and keyboard midi controller are examples of inventions using modern technology. In a similar vein, modern technology has resulted in changes in music production and how musicians practice. An innovative mobile app system, which was recently developed in Korea, is expected to allow users to converge technology with classic music production. In the lecture, Professor Kim will introduce IT-based self-training/learning mobile app systems for classical music students, which support intensive pedagogy programs. She will discuss how this new technology can help advanced music learners practice without regard for time and/or place to become high-performing musicians.
