Current global landscape of international politics is changing rapidly as shown in conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Palestine. In the middle of rapidly changing perspective in international relations between countries, South Korea - Unites States alliance conventionally referred as "alliance of blood" requires more comprehensive thoughts and approaches to understand their distinctive relations since liberation of Korea in 1945. Ambassador Cho will share his insights on relations between South Korea and the United States through various perspective not only political lenses focusing military alliance against North Korea, but also other spheres such as economy, technology, and energy.
His Excellency Hyun Cho was the 26th Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations. A career diplomat, Ambassador Cho's previous senior assignments include Frist Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (2018-2029), Ambassador to the Republic of India (2015-2017), Ambassador to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna (2011-2014), and Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs (2009-2011). Ambassador Cho also authored a book on Korea-India relations, entitled 한국대사의 인도리포트 (Korean Ambassador's Report on India). He is currently teaching security issues and political economy at Seoul National University.
