At the UCLA Global Conversation 2017, Dr. Kelsey Martin -- dean of the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA -- drew attention to inequities in health care in Los Angeles and across the world, while highlighting the many international opportunities pursued by UCLA med students.

Local and Global Health Equity

Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement Cindy Fan hosted a UCLA Global Conversation on November 15, 2017, at the Powell Library Rotunda. Held as part of International Education Week 2017 at UCLA, the evening included a reception and keynote presentation on "Local and Global Health Equity" by Dr. Kelsey Martin, Dean of the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

UCLA was proud to participate in International Education Week, when universities across the nation join the U.S. Departments of State and Education in recognizing the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

As a land grant institution, the International Institute at UCLA acknowledges the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, Southern Channel Islands).

Equity, diversity and inclusion are essential values of the UCLA International Institute. We are committed to ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion for our students, staff and faculty in our academic programs and centers, as well as on our campus.

The Institute is proud of its over 60-year legacy in preparing individuals who have gone on to make contributions to the business, nonprofit, government and education sectors. As a gateway to the world for the campus and the greater Los Angeles community, the Institute considers equity, diversity and inclusion essential to its mission of educating global citizens and preparing them for a multicultural world and collaborative problem solving.
