Student Association for Latin American Studies
The Student Association for Latin American Studies (SALAS) meets the needs of undergraduate and graduate students in the Latin American Studies interdepartmental program.

Activities
- Provides a forum for group interaction and camaraderie among students, a particularly important goal, given the interdisciplinary nature of the Latin American Studies degree programs
- Publishes a monthly SALAS Newsletter, which includes details of upcoming Latin American cultural events in Los Angeles and on campus; information about scholarships, internships, and study abroad programs; and course announcements and other items of special interest to LAS students
- Arranges information sessions designed to acquaint students with career opportunities and with the many resources available at UCLA to help students chart their career paths
- Organizes events such as conferences, lectures, informal noon-time gatherings focused on topics of common interest
