Multi-Part Teachers Workshop at the Fowler Museum

"Steeped in History: The Art of Tea" Curriculum Unit is now available
K-12 educators are invited to participate in a series of stimulating workshops this fall. The first session will provide a preview of the UCLA Fowler Museum's two newest exhibitions Steeped in History: The Art of Tea and Grass Roots: African Origins of an American Art. Enjoy curatorial walkthroughs, gallery activities, and art making during this workshop tracing the fascinating journeys of two commodities-tea and rice-and examine stunning works of art in their service. Teachers will delve deeper into the exhibition Steeped in History: The Art of Tea during the remainder of the series through lectures, tea tastings, tea ceremony demonstrations, and gallery/art-making activities. Curricular materials will be provided.
The series totals sixteen in-class hours; teachers requesting salary point credit should call the Museum’s education department.
$60 series; $20 individual sessions.
