News junkies now have a new way to access world news on campus. The newly designed Global Viewpoint Lounge opened today on the A-Level of Ackerman Union.
The lounge has five television monitors, each tuned to a different news channel from around the world. One will be an American news channel and the others will represent viewpoints from Europe, Asia and the developing world. One channel will be audible, while the other four will be broadcasting on a limited-distance FM frequency. The lounge will also have a daily copy of both the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times.
“The idea is to help foster student engagement with broad global issues by creating a lounge that presents a diversity of perspectives on current events,” said Student Union director Roy Champawat.
