Program Summary

Applications are invited for ESRC's Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme in the Autumn. The awards will fund new researchers for one year immediately after the completion of their Doctorate.

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed their doctorate degree within two years prior to the beginning of the award or expect to do so by 1 October 2002. Those returning to work after a career break will also be eligible. Applications must be made through institutions recognized by ESRC for research funding and should come with the full support of the institution and a nominated mentor who will guide the fellow. There are no residency and citizenship requirements.

Stipend

Approximately 30 awards are available in the first year commencing from October 2002. All fellows will be appointed on spine point six of the RA 1A scale (currently 19,486 British pounds) or the nearest equivalent. In addition further funds will be available to support the research program, administration costs, and other expenses. In total an absolute maximum of 26,000 (British pounds) will be available for each fellowship. However, where a London allowance is eligible, the maximum value of an award will be 28,214 (British pounds).
