Description

Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining web-based projects with an emphasis on database driven applications. As directed by manager, provide web and database related computing consultation and technical advice. Assist in maintaining and developing existing web sites and on-line support systems. Assist in tracking developments within central computing units. Learn and apply new software and hardware products as they relate to assigned tasks. As part of a team, learn details of University databases and create techniques for data extraction and presentation.

Qualifications

Experience in developing web based applications, specifically on a Microsoft Windows Servers (NT, 2000 or 2003). Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and ASP.NET 1.1 or ASP.NET 2.0 especially with VB.NET. Experience with HTML, ASP, VB, ADO, IIS, MSSQL, and MS Access. Experience with JavaScript, DHTML, and CSS. Experience with COM, MTS, XML, and OLAP. Strong project management skills. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and with short time lines for completion of projects. Ability to study and understand user interactions in order to create efficient and easy-to-use interfaces. Experience with working in a team programming environment utilizing source code version control systems, namely Visual Source Safe. Intimate knowledge of web based application development, including best practices for session handling, transaction processing, data manipulation, and persistence. Knowledge of security principles such as authorization, authentication, NTFS permissions, SQL Server permissions, encryption, and session management as related to securing IIS, MS SQL Server, and web applications. Experience with Microsoft Office and macro programming with VB.
