Paid Tutoring Positions with Children of The Night

About the Opportunity:

The non-profit Children of the Night is offering paid, part-time tutoring positions to international students. Children of the Night provides free, live online tutoring all over the world to sex trafficking victims. Tutors will work in their Call Center at 14530 Sylvan Street, Van Nuys with students in their native countries who are studying English as a second language or a high school equivalency to escape sex trafficking. The Call Center is open 24 hours, so all 24 hours are available to work. Children of the Night is looking for bi-lingual students in every language (Dominican Creole and Spanish are highly needed). Math skills are required as tutors will be teaching basic math.

More about Children of the Night:

Children of the Night is a privately funded non-profit organization established in 1979 and dedicated to rescuing America’s children from the ravages of prostitution. All services to clients and agencies are free.

Children of the Night’s expansion program, Children of the Night “With Out Walls” (WOW), began in 2011 in the United States by providing high school equivalency preparation for Goodwill of Southern California & East Bay Workforce and Career Development centers, domestic violence programs, youth drop in centers, shelters, maternity homes, drug programs, and transitional living programs nationwide.

WOW works with young people on the streets or in orphanages. New students enroll by phone and tutors provide an online assessment. Immediately following, tutors prepare a schedule of tutoring and test preparation. They obtain documents for the test, pay test fees and transportation on test day. Children of the Night’s 24/7 toll-free hotline provides case management and help with shelter, counseling, or crisis situations that often derail clients from their goal. From start to finish, Children of the Night WOW provides the services required to permanently remove those in need from “life on the street.”
