Enriching the Middle East's Economic Future IX

May 12-14, 2014

The annually held conference, hosted by the Emir of the State of Qatar, HRH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, was once again held in conjunction with the Doha Forum. This combined event brought together about 700 participants from 100 countries.

Since its inception, the joint conference has grown into an internationally recognized forum for foreign trade ministers, venture capitalists, financiers, and experts from all over the world. Participants' specializations range from economics to health and politics, and they bring their perspectives to pressing global policy issues, while simultaneously conducting private business and interchange.

The conference has been addressed by several distinguished keynote speakers and attendees, including former US President William Jefferson Clinton, former Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa, former US Mideast envoy Senator George Mitchell, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman.

This May, we discussed entrepreneurship, sustainable job creation, and innovation in the public and private sectors. We announced the 2014 Doha Prize for Economic Innovation. At the conference, finalists presented proposals, and five winners were awarded prizes totaling $100,000.
