Reminiscent of Wong Kar-wai and Quentin Tarantino, Moroccan director Faouzi Bensaidi is a master of mood, style and playful genre-mashing. In this hip, dark comedy, we meet Kamel (Faouzi Bensaidi), a professional assassin, Kenza (Nezha Rahil), a morose traffic cop, her best friend/occasional prostitute Souad (Fatima Attif), and Hicham (El Mehdi Elaaroubi), an Internet hacker. As their lives become slowly intertwined, Bensaidi paints a delicious portrait of a Casablanca filled with love, murder and mystery. In this second feature by director Faouzi Bensaidi (One Thousand Months), a latent malaise and alienation underlies the stylized and choreographed scenes.
