Nuclear Choices: Alternate Paths in the Middle East and East Asia

Etel Solingen is Professor of Political Science at UC Irvine and serves as Chair of the Steering Committee of the University of California's systemwide Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC).   Her research focuses on the connections between international political economy and international security, internationalization, institutional theory, regional and international security regimes, democratization, and the comparative political economy of science and technology.  Her publications include Regional Orders at Century's Dawn: Global and Domestic Influences on Grand Strategy (1998); Industrial Policy, Technology, and International Bargaining: Nuclear Industries in Argentina and Brazil (1996); and Scientists and the State (1994).

This lecture is part of the Center for Near Eastern Studies Fall lecture series on The New Middle East: Five Years After 9/11, exploring the most recent events in the Middle East, while providing perspective and analysis from a variety of points of view.
