Tariq Modood is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Bristol and is the Bristol Director of the Leverhulme Programme on Migration and Citizenship. His research interests include theory and politics of racism, racial equality, multiculturalism and secularism, ethnic identities, national identities and the 'second generation', and the politics of being Muslim in the West. He is co-editor of the journal, Ethnicities and his recent publications include Multicultural Politics: Racism, Ethnicity and Muslims in Britain (2005); Ethnicity, Nationalism and Minority Rights, with S. May and J. Squires, eds. (2004); and South Asian Women and Employment in Britain: the interaction of gender and ethnicity, with F. Ahmad and S. Lissenburgh (2003).
