Tenbak
Director: Abdullah Hassan Ahmed
(United Arab Emirates, 2008, 26 minutes)

Set in the beautiful mountainous landscape of the UAE, this multi-layered story focuses on two middle-aged friends struggling with racism.

Falling from Earth
Director: Chadi Zeneddine
(Lebanon, 2007, 70 minutes)

Youssef, a wise fool, lives in the remains of a building collecting photographs of happy people. Behind each photograph lie millions of implosions of a city wounded by time. Arresting characters and exquisite cinematography are the entry point into this haunting and heartfelt film that blurs the line between past and present, the real and the magical. Grounded in four compelling stories, first-time filmmaker Chadi Zeneddine’s non-linear and sophisticated cinematic techniques chart the journeys of those who continue to live amidst Beirut's tattered landscape. This film is a gorgeous rumination on where life and hope will be found in the future of Lebanon.
