Insurance Companies

ebao (易保)

www.ebao.com

This website provides online services for insurance to companies and individuals. The types of insurance it offers include: life, vehicle, family finances and wealth, and business. This company serves individuals and families, enterprises, business personnel, other insurance companies, and companies in related industries. Clients who register online (the website does not indicate whether or not this is free) have access to clickable links which enable them to look for insurance companies, business personnel, relevant organizations, and relevant trade. News on the insurance industry is also available, as are insurance companies by name and city. This web page provides reciprocal space on the web to sell other related companies' services and market their products; offers consultation, advice, and comparative price shopping for insurance services; and acts as a liaison between customers and others in the industry. The website lists a national free hotline service: 86-8008206868; the company’s regular phone is (86-021) 53965618 in Shanghai, 86-01083913588 in Beijing. There are three customer service emails listed: one for personal users, one for insurance agents’ customers, and one for business cooperative partners and the advertising service. The website is comprehensive, detailed, and accessible.

China Insurance (中国保险网)

www.china-insurance.com

This website is a clearinghouse for news on the insurance industry; laws and regulations concerning insurance, data on insurance; and information on different types of insurance like health, life, medical, home, and property. In addition, the website has an impressive list of clickable links to insurance companies for particular kinds of insurance like life or health. Not all of the links are accessible, but the information gathered on this website is detailed and comprehensive.

The People’s Insurance Company of China (中国人民保险公司)

www.piccnet.com.cn

This website offers insurance in the following categories—export credit insurance, agricultural property insurance, shipping insurance, transportation of goods insurance, property insurance (liability and property insurance for enterprises), vehicle insurance, and large risk insurance. There is an English mirror site provided, although the link is hard to access. Online contact information is provided as are links to the different types of insurance. No indication is provided as to whether the firm will sell insurance to multinationals or foreigners doing business in China. The website is detailed, difficult to load, and the links are not easily accessed.

Chubb China (美商联邦产物保险股份有限公司)

www.chubb.com/china

The website indicates that this company has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. However, the only contact address, phone, and email given on the site are for the office in Beijing. Links on the website include: country information on China, the insurance industry, Chubb's activities in China, information on the company's international activities, information in risk management, and access to useful China sites. The link to the insurance industry provides information on China's insurance laws. The link to risk management gives brief overviews of provincial and city industrial parks. There are industrial parks in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen within Guangdong Province. Most of the links to useful China related sites are for media/news resources or entities such as chambers of commerce and embassies. Insurance services are detailed as follows (although they are not listed as specific to China): business insurance (accident, property and liability, umbrella, executive risk, exporters, financial institutions, property and marine, and workers compensation); and individual insurance (residence, auto, valuables, excess liability, and valuables). Other links include a large amount of information for potential investors such as the company's annual report and opportunities for job seekers. There is an online contact form which allows potential customers to find an agent worldwide, file a claim, and contact the company. The downside of the website is the unanswered question of which insurance services listed apply to companies doing business in China.
