1942 Mohandas Gandhi, J. Nehru, and another fifty members of the All-India Congress were jailed by the British Viceroy after the Congress voted for a "Quit India" campaign against the British colonial government. Gandhi and others were jailed for nearly two years.
1945 The second atomic bomb used on people was dropped on Nagasaki.
