Hong Kong Financial Services Bureau
This government bureau's mission is "to maintain and enhance Hong Kong’s status as a major international financial centre through the provision of an appropriate economic and legal environment for an open, fair and efficient market." This excellent website is quite well organized and features detailed organizational charts (with the names and phone numbers of officers), policy statements and reports (too often in slow loading formats), and links to useful economic information.
A rich source of information regarding listed companies, regulations, and the like. Look elsewhere, however, for market numbers.
Trade and Industry Department of the Hong Kong Government
This is a remarkably rich site offering macroeconomic information as well as concrete information on where (websites, but mostly street addresses and specific counters in government office buildings) to go to handle specific trade/investment related matters.

Cap. Charles Elliot, Chief Superintendent of Trade, to Hong Kong Residents (February 2, 1841)Established in 1975, the museum has been greatly expanded. The website features information about the museum and its affiliates (locations, directions, opening times, admission prices, and so on). In addition there is news and photos about current and upcoming exhibitions.
Pre-handover map of Hong Kong and Macao
In addition to providing information on the broadcast schedule and program details, this BBC site offers Real Audio clips from earlier broadcasts. A special section is devoted to the Hong Kong handover.
Metro Broadcasting
Metro operates three Hong Kong radio stations. The website doesn't offer much at present, but promises to soon offer live audio feeds. Using Real Audio software, one could listen to Hong Kong radio to get some feel for what people in the colony are listening to and thinking about.
South China Morning Post
Established in 1903, the South China Morning Post is the largest circulation English-language newspaper in Hong Kong. The website has internet versions of today and yesterday's editions and special reports. Classified ads and more are available.
VOA Cantonese and Mandarin Broadcasts
The Voice of America, part of the United States government's United States Information Agency, broadcasts in many languages. Some broadcasts are relatively short, others go beyond news to include cultural programming. Click here to see a list of new programs available for net-listening.
