Carol Bakhos is Associate Professor of Late Antique Judaism and Jewish Studies at UCLA's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Culture. In 2006-2007, Professor Bakhos was awarded a Mellon Grant to study Qur'anic scriptural interpretation at Princeton, where she was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Near Eastern Studies. Professor Bakhos has written numerous articles in her field, edited two volumes, Judaism in its Hellenistic Context (Leiden: EJ Brill, 2004) and Current Trends in the Study of Midrash (Leiden: EJ Brill, 2006), and is the author of a monograph entitled Ishmael on the Border: Rabbinic Portrayals of the First Arab (New York: SUNY Press, 2006; recipient of Koret Foundation grant).
