UC Systemwide Pacific Rim Research Program, 2008 - 2009This program offers research grants to faculty, staff and graduate students. Last year, the program awarded three grants to UCLA students for projects that reach across national boundaries and bridge academic disciplines. Proposals must be submitted online through the program web site. Copies of the application can be downloaded from the UC President's Office at: http://www.ucop.edu/research/pacrim The Pacific Rim Research Program (PRRP) promotes the study of the Pacific Rim as a distinctive region. Here, the term "Pacific Rim" encompasses all areas and nations that border the Pacific Ocean, including Southeast Asia and the Pacific islands. Recognizing that the interaction of peoples and states in the region has generated new issues of common concern, the Program places priority on research that is new, specific to the region, and collaborative -- reaching across national boundaries and bridging academic disciplines. Proposals may come from any discipline and should address questions that contribute to an understanding of the region as a whole.
