Foreign Language Acquisition and Pedagogy for Hebrew Day School Teachers
This specially-designed teacher training program was aimed at professionalizing the foreign language teaching skills of Hebrew teachers at Jewish day schools in Los Angeles. (2005)
The program consisted of three UCLA credit-bearing courses in foreign language acquisition and pedagogy (Introduction to Language Learning and Teaching, Theories of Language Education and Learning, and the Second/Foreign Language Teaching Practicum). It was offered in partnership with the Los Angeles Bureau of Jewish Education, with funding provided by the Los Angeles Jewish Community Foundation.
The program provided an exciting opportunity for collaboration between UCLA and Los Angeles area Jewish Day Schools, allowing day school Hebrew teachers access to up-to-date methods of teaching foreign language that are crucial to the continuing success of their students and their schools.
