Korean Principals Institute
This 3-day intensive institute was designed for principals of private Korean kindergarten and elementary schools seeking guidance on the administration and design of successful language programs for young learners. (Winter 2004)
Using a combination of lectures, demonstrations, site visits to Los Angeles area elementary schools, and classroom observations of language instruction at these sites, the institute focused on how foreign language instruction can enhance young learners’ intellectual capacity and how English language programs for this population can be implemented and designed to maximize language acquisition opportunities. In the lecture component of the program, an overview of theories and strategies related to foreign language instruction provided participants with a foundation on which to base administrative decisions.
