Uzbek Teachers of English Program

This program was conducted in conjunction with a US Department of State-sponsored two-year assessment of the Uzbek World Language University's English language teacher training curriculum in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. (Summer 2004)

Ten Uzbek faculty members attended the UCLA three-week residential summer program, which was supported by a special grant from US Department of State in Washington, DC.

Program goals included:

• Upgrading the participants' knowledge of Applied Linguistics methodology and technology,
• improving their own command of English language skills,
• developing their teacher-training curriculum, and
• enhancing their knowledge of American life and culture.
