New Language TA Orientation
The UCLA Language Resource Center and OID will jointly host a one day orientation for new Language TAs on Sept. 22nd.
The Orientation Program is listed below:
General Assembly
"No English Please: Teaching/Learning A Foreign Language Using an Immersion Method." All new language TAs are required to
attend this section.
Workshop I
Workshop I consists of four micro-lessons. Each participating TA will pick two micro-lessons to attend.
Each micro-lesson will be 40 minutes long and will be taught by an experienced language TA.
- Use of Video and Listening Tapes
- Making Vocabulary Learning Fun
- Pair Work and Group Work
- How to Teach Grammar
Workshop II
Everyone will attend each session listed below. No need to select a preference. You will be assigned to these workshops.
- Visual Aids
- Intro to Alphabet
Workshop III
Dr. Olga Kagan and panel of speakers presenting - The Heritage Language Classroom: this workshop will discuss the differences
between HL learners and traditional foreign language students.
