Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Assessments Communications Associate

Hours per week: 20 hours per week; Monday through Friday, 2:00pm-7:00pm

Salary: $15.38 to $17.58 per hour, depending upon qualifications

Position Available: November 1, 2006

Description of Duties:
(1) Provide daily operational support to the users of CAL's adult ESL assessments, BEST Plus and BEST Literacy, as well as,
(2) Provide assistance to CAL's adult ESL assessment staff by creating and implementing communications and marketing materials.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide daily telephone and email support, including technical support, to BEST Plus and BEST Literacy test administrators and program administrators;

Create and maintain correspondence templates (letters, emails) where possible to improve the consistency and quality of communication with existing client base;

Design and layout communication pieces (i.e., print newsletters, product fact sheets, thank you cards, etc.) for adult ESL assessments using design software, such as Microsoft Publisher and In Design CS2;

Maintain both paper and electronic files tracking the status and contact information for all BEST Plus trainers and trainers-in-training, as well as sending periodic communication to support the BEST Plus trainers and trainers-in-training;

Enter new test administrator data into the BEST Plus database and maintain paper files of prior test administrator information;

Organize and archive important communications with BEST Plus and BEST Literacy customers on the shared network drive, as well as in a hard-copy file

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree highly desirable.

Experience: Client relations experience and demonstrated success in serving customers. Excellent phone manner. Clear, friendly communication style. Administrative office experience. Ability to organize and manage electronic and paper files. Comfortable working with technology to support customers. Comfortable with Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher) and other database programs (e.g., Goldmine), as well as Adobe InDesign CS2 design software. Experience working in adult ESL programs and administering BEST and BEST Plus a definite plus.
