Registration, Fees, and Financial Aid
Baltic Studies Summer Institute (BALSSI)
Registration Overview
Registration for the Baltic Studies Summer Institute (BALSSI) courses are offered through UCLA Summer Sessions.
UCLA students: enroll through URSA beginning February 1, 2007.
Visiting students: enroll online beginning March 1, 2007. There is no need to submit transcripts. Registration is completed when all fees are paid.
Transferring UCLA Units to Other Institutions
UCLA courses are generally accepted for transfer credit. Students outside the UC system should get advanced approval of their courses from their home institutions. Transfer of credit is at the discretion of the receiving institution. For students from other UC campuses, all UCLA summer activity automatically appears on your home UC campus transcript, and the grades you earn at UCLA are included in your home UC campus grade-point average.
Admission to UCLA
Registration in Summer Sessions does not constitute admission to the University. Students who wish to attend UCLA in regular session must apply to either the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools, 1147 Murphy Hall, Box 951436, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1436, or the Graduate Admissions Office,1247 Murphy Hall, Box 951428, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1428.
Fees
Please see the fee table and refund schedule for a summary of fees and refund information. All fees subject to change by the UC Regents.
University of California students: UC students pay a $53 campus fee plus course fees. The campus fee covers enrollment in all sessions. The course fee is $147 per unit for undergraduates, and $206 per unit for graduate students, although course fees are subject to change by the UC Regents. These fees apply to continuing UC students, including students admitted for Fall 2007. UC students who withdraw must pay a $100 processing fee.
Non-University of California students: We assess a registration fee plus course fees. The registration fee is $300, of which $100 is nonrefundable. It covers registration for both sessions. The registration fee is necessary to enroll you, to reserve a place for you in the classes you select, and to allow you access to campus services and recreation facilities. The nonrefundable portion of the registration fee helps cover administrative expenses we incur when we enroll and reserve a place for you before you withdraw.
The registration fee for international students is $600, of which $400 is nonrefundable. International students must also pay $270 for health insurance if they hold I-20 forms issued by UCLA Summer Sessions. Please see the International Students section for more information.
Course fees are $206 per unit for BALSSI courses.
Instructional Enhancement Initiative: All students are charged $72.00 Instructional Enhancement Fee.
