The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures is seeking highly qualified and motivated Part-time Faculty in languages, literatures, and teacher supervision.  CSU Fullerton, the largest campus in the CSU system, is an urban university serving over 35,000 students.  The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the largest and most diverse academic division within the University, includes 20 departments and interdisciplinary programs and 11 research centers, and offers more than 40 different bachelor’s and master’s degrees.  The Department offers BAs in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish and MAs in French, German, Spanish, and TESOL as well as language offerings in many other languages. 

Part-time faculty will be recommended in the following areas during Fall, Spring, Intersession, and/or Summer Terms:

Qualifications
An M.A. Degree is normally required for lower-division language courses.  A Secondary Teaching Credential or an M.A. Degree with teaching experience at the secondary level is normally required for teacher supervision assignments. A Ph.D. is required for literature courses.  Applicants should also be familiar with recognized best practices in teaching and have an interest in using and developing innovative instructional technologies to promote student learning.  Applicants should be able to interact effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues. Applicants should also have a very good knowledge of English phonology, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.

Appointment and Salary
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.  Initial appointments are one semester only.  Salaries vary depending upon qualifications and experience. Appointment Date
Continuous throughout the year.  Most positions open up between the close of registration and the first day of instruction each semester.  Fall and Spring semesters usually run from late August to late December and from late January to late May. Intersession runs through January. Summer sessions run June through August.

Review of Part-time Lecturers
All part-time lecturers will receive class observations by a full-time faculty member on a regular basis.  Positive reviews are based on excellent teaching and continuing professional development.
