L.A. Language Intensives

Elementary Persian:  First Year Iranian 1A/B/C (15 units)

An intensive and thorough introduction to the reading, writing, grammar and speaking of Persian (fârsî). No prior exposure to the language or to the alphabet is required; open to all with an interest in Persian, including high school students.

Intermediate Persian:  Second Year Iranian 102A/B/C (15 units)

Students will be introduced to the major figures of Persian literature, with a focus on the development of classical Persian poetry, metrics and prosody. Requisite: course 1C or 20C. Course 102A is requisite to 102B, which is requisite to 102C.

The Intensive Iranian Program at UCLA offers the equivalent of one year of instruction in only 8 weeks.

Language Intensives in L.A. is organized by the UCLA Center for World Languages and UCLA Summer Sessions with support from the UC Consortium for Language Learning and Teaching, the UCLA African Studies Center, UCLA Departments of Near Eastern Languages & Cultures, Linguistics, Slavic Languages, and Spanish & Portuguese.
